About WAFP
The Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) is comprised of physicians who specialize in Family Medicine, residents in Family Medicine training programs, and medical students interested in the specialty. With more than 2,600 members, WAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Washington State. The WAFP is a state chapter of the
American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
which represents more than 94,000 physicians, residents and medical students in the U.S.
The WAFP works to influence health care policy by encouraging its members to take leadership positions; members work actively to support legislation and regulations that will lead to all Washingtonians obtaining a medical home and health care.
We strive to promote interest in Family Medicine as a career and to support the UWSOM and WWAMI Residency Network in its effort to provide high quality family medicine training programs.
We seek innovative solutions to health care problems in rural health, migrant care, and the care of underserved citizens of the state of Washington.
Mission Statement
The Washington Academy of Family Physicians is a member-driven organization committed to supporting Washington State family physicians in their efforts to provide optimal health care to the people of Washington through education, advocacy, and research.
