The Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) is comprised of physicians who specialize in Family Medicine, residents in Family Medicine training programs, and medical students interested in the specialty. With more than 2,800 members, WAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Washington State. The WAFP is the Washington State chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).The WAFP works to influence the development of health care policy by encouraging its members to become involved and to take leadership positions; advocating for enactment of legislation and regulations that will enable all Washingtonians to have a medical home and access to health care.We strive to promote interest in Family Medicine as a career and support Washington State Medical Schools and Residency programs in their effort to provide high quality family medicine education programs.We seek innovative solutions to challenges in providing health care to rural communities, immigrant populations, and generally all underserved citizens of Washington State.
