The Practice Transformation Committee combines the previous work of the Health Care Services Commission, the New Model Task Force and Information Services Committee. It is targeted on assisting family medicine practices in the state with efforts to adopt practice change and re-design initiatives and to coordinate activities within the academy to make implementation more effective. It works to develop and share with members a practical knowledge of emerging information technologies, including EMR and web development; it also helps to integrate these technologies and methods into the Academy, into clinical practice and in advancement of medical knowledge. The Committee also serves as a liaison with health systems (hospitals, clinics, health plans, HMOs and others) to encourage fair treatment of and representation by family physicians, to cooperate in plans and programs for improving services and standards in the health care system, and to advocate for fair compensation for new services and fee settlements.
