Consequence Restricted Licensure

WHEREAS, a physician who has been trained in a broad range of practice skills, may have a narrow restriction of a specific scope of practice in medical licensure, and

WHEREAS, health insurance plans frequently require an unrestricted license to be accepted into an insurance panel of physicians, and

WHEREAS most physicians are unable to earn a living without health insurance reimbursement,

RESOLVED, that the WAFP be opposed to the practice of health insurance plans to categorically remove physicians from participating panels based upon a restriction on state licensure, and

RESOLVED, that the WAFP work with the WSMA to initiate Washington State legislation that will prevent health plans from depriving physicians of the ability to make a living based upon a strict requirement to have an unrestricted license.
