Expanding the WAFP Role in Health Care Reform Efforts
Expanding the WAFP Role in Health Care Reform Efforts
WHEREAS, the people of this state are finding they have less control and choice and are finding health care to be more unaffordable every year, and
WHEREAS, health insurance financially rewards procedures and higher volumes of visits instead of panel management that focuses on prevention, primary care, and chronic care, and
WHEREAS, there are many people in the state working to change the health care system in ways that address cost, personal control, choice of provider, and shared responsibility, and
WHEREAS, the state is setting up a work group to examine the costs and benefits of making substantial improvements to the health care system in a manner that would cover all Washingtonians, and
WHEREAS, the Family Physicians of the state understand the problems in the health care system from a first hand perspective and want improvements for patients and providers; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED
, that the WAFP take an active role in the deliberations of the Citizens' Work Group on health care by advocating for a health care system that provides security, control, choice, and affordability for patients and a primary care, patient-focused, prevention oriented health system, and be it further
RESOLVED
, that the WAFP make education and activation of its membership about the deliberations of the Citizens' Work Group on health care a high priority, and be it further
RESOLVED
, that a high priority the WAFP be that the organization work formally or informally with other interested parties, coalitions and organizations in evaluating the output of Citizens' Work Group on health care and support activities that further cost effective affordable health care for all people in Washington, and be it further
RESOLVED
, that the WAFP adjust its upcoming budget as would determined by the Finance Committee to support additional efforts to work for cost effect affordable health care for all people in Washington with permission to spend from budget resources including reserves if needed to purchase extra lobbying support, and be it further
RESOLVED
, that the WAFP join in membership in the Healthy Washington Coalition, and be it further
RESOLVED
, that the WAFP take a resolution to the WSMA asking them to join us in engaging in the deliberations of Citizens' Work Group on health care as one of their highest priorities, and in joining with us and other parties in supporting cost effective affordable care for all people in Washington.
