WAFP Employment

Position: IT & Membership Coordinator

The Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) is the largest specialty medical organization in Washington, representing more than 2,800 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students throughout the state. Founded in 1948, its mission is to preserve and promote the practice of family medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages. The WAFP is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) which represents more than 94,000 physicians, residents and medical students in the U.S.

Job summary:

As a key member of the WAFP office staff, this position has  responsibility for information technology, including the wafp.net website, content administration and user support, as well as primary responsibility for management of membership information.

Reports to: Executive Vice President


IT responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all maintenance of the website
  • Managing, updating, uploading content as required
  • Coordinating information transfer with AAFP
  • Serving as liaison with technology vendors and community partners
  • Troubleshooting and resolving access and support issues
  • Coordinating web-based surveys, registration, listservs
  • Managing member and non-member website classified advertising
  • Monitoring of web-generated admin/info requests

Membership responsibilities:

  • Managing the membership application process in coordination with AAFP and Member Services Director
  • Resolving member queries and problems
  • Serving as liaison with local chapters regarding membership application approvals, meeting planning, and other requirements

Additional responsibilities include: official staff support for WAFP commissions/committees/task forces; assistance at board meetings and statewide annual meeting; and other duties as assigned. Occasional travel and weekend meeting attendance are required.

Education/experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Academic specialization in IT or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with organization and management of  databases
  • Two years experience in non-profit or membership-based organization
  • Good organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills required.

Casual, flexible office environment with core requirements of professional attitude, maintaining respectful and responsive relationships with three colleagues and all WAFP members, and the energy and interest to be proactive in improving quality of member contacts to advance WAFP’s missions and goals.
