National Conference of Special Constituencies

If you want to get more involved in your state and national academies, being a delegate to American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) annual National Conference of Special Constituencies (NCSC) is the perfect opportunity.

In 2010, NCSC will be held Thursday, April 29-Saturday, May 1, in Kansas City, Mo.

This unique conference pulls together delegates from each state to discuss issues facing family physicians. It is your Academy’s goal to send someone each year in the following five recognized special constituencies:

  • Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Physicians—an active member of AAFP who self-identifies as GLBT or who is supportive of GLBT issues.
  • International Medical Graduate (IMG) Physicians—an active member of AAFP who graduated from medical school outside the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico.
  • Minority Family Physicians—an active member of AAFP who is Black, Asian, Hawaiian Islander, American Indian, Eskimo or Hispanic.
  • New Physicians—an active member of AAFP who has been in practice less than seven years.
  • Women Physicians—an active member of AAFP who is a woman.

NCSC is an excellent opportunity to meet similar family physicians from across the United States, to discuss and form resolutions that shape AAFP policies, and to be possibly elected for various leadership positions for the conference or even as a delegate to the annual AAFP Congress of Delegates.

Interested in being a 2010 delegate?
2010 NCSC Application Form

If you are chosen to be an WAFP delegate to NCSC, WAFP will reimburse eligible expenses (with the submission of a delegate report and receipts), and you will have a great opportunity to get to know the staff and leadership of both AAFP and WAFP as they are also in Kansas City for the Annual Leadership Forum. Please consider this excellent opportunity to become active with your family at WAFP. If you are interested as serving as a delegate to NCSC, please complete and return the following application no later than Friday, February 12, 2010. 2010 NCSC Application Form
