Why Become a Member?
The Washington Academy of Family Physicians is a member-driven organization committed to supporting Washington State family physicians in their efforts to provide optimal health care to the people of Washington through education, advocacy, and research.
Professional Development.
As a member, you gain opportunities for professional development within the organization and the American Academy of Family Physicians; you become part of a community of committed colleagues with whom to share goals, achievements and challenges; and you gain a forum for informed learning and education.
Official Journal.
Members receive a complimentary subscription to the Academy’s quarterly journal, Washington Family Physician, offering timely, relevant information about the practice of Family Medicine and information about activities of our members, the board of directors, as well as committees and commissions. You are encouraged to submit articles for publication in WFP, as well. Online access to the current issue of WFP is restricted to members only.
Learning and Leadership.
Members are encouraged to attend WAFP’s Annual House of Delegates meeting & the Scientific Assembly, along with committee and commission meetings throughout the year. These provide opportunities to share your passion and expertise with the Academy and to contribute to the development of Academy policy. There is also the benefit of conveniently fulfilling continuing medical education (CME) requirements. Come find out how you can contribute to making a difference to the patients and communities you serve.
Legislative Advocacy.
Your membership in WAFP makes us stronger and more effective as we work to support you – the family physician – and family medicine within the community and around the state. WAFP’s advocacy efforts will improve access to health care for all and is designed to tell family medicine’s story to the many stakeholders that will have input into the redesign of America’s health care system, including legislators, regulators, health care providers, sub-specialists, educators, patients and the public.
Resident Membership Dues
. As a resident, your membership dues for the Washington Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians will be paid by your residency program.
