State Budget Priorities

  • Protect and preserve funding health care services for low-income individuals - Basic Health
  • Plan, Disability Lifeline - Medical, Apple Health for Kids
  • Protect and preserve Volunteer Retired Providers funding
  • Protect and preserve Interpreter Services funding
  • Protect and preserve Maternity Support Services

State Policy Priorities

  • Implement Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
  • Promote Tobacco / Drug Stewardship
  • Limit access to tanning beds for children under the age of 16
  • Clarify Medical Assistants Scope of Practice
  • Clarify Medicaid patient access to care (HCA non-emergent ED issue)
  • Improve the supply of critically-needed physicians, particularly primary care, general surgery, and mental health services to serve Washington citizens
  • Focus Patient Centered Medical Home Collaborative, Accountable Care Organizations and other practice transformation initiatives on the need to maintain a primary care focus with patients’ interests prioritized
  • Focus federal program funds on initiatives or programs that will improve patients’ access to primary care and improves patient health outcomes
  • Support efforts that will expand vaccination compliance in Washington State. Work to ensure well-informed consent of patients before exempting themselves, or their children from immunization
  • Monitor hospital growth and health care related capital construction
